How I work

We design a tailored Argentina travel itinerary for you with the unique experiences & ideal destinations you desire.

My beginnings

Born in Ireland and having lived & worked in England and Australia as a Chartered Accountant in Multinationals, I first came to Argentina in 2000 whilst travelling through South America. Intrigued by the easy-going Argentine nature, I decided Buenos Aires would be a good place to take things easy for a while. Given the unstable economic situation, I decided that working independently seemed a better option. In 2007, having set up a Boutique hotel in the centre of Buenos Aires – I came into frequent contact with International travellers. I realised there was a lack of custom tours on offer in the region to deal with the wide range of activities on offer and the different travellers preferences. Hence, I formed Experience Argentina in 2012.

With local knowledge, and having the advantage of being on-hand whilst travellers are in Argentina, I am able to offer my clients a reliable and secure custom service that foreign based tour operators cannot. Working primarily with couples, families and small groups, I get to enjoy meeting travellers from around the world and planning their dream holiday in the region. Married to local Argentine Yenni and with my sons Ignacio, Ruari & Patrick, I continue to travel extensively throughout the region and incorporate new experiences and alternative destinations into my custom itineraries.

You don't have permission to register

1. Form completion

You (the client) fill in the form on my website expressing an interest in a custom tour of Argentina, Chile, Brazil &/or Uruguay. You specify your telephone number and best time to call. I can call you via telephone, Whatsapp, Skpe or Facetime.

2. Telephone Call

I will call you at the specified time and we will have a chat about the type of tour you are interested in: Preferred countries, Preferred destinations with those countries, type of activities you are interested in. This could be anything from Adventure, Nature, Wildlife, Hiking, Sightseeing, Food & Wine, Culture & History, Tango & Learning Spanish, Bird-watching or Fishing. Also, you can tell me if the tour is for you and your partner; your family; a group of friends; a honey-moon; anniversary; etc. During the conversation, you can also tell me what type of accommodation you prefer in terms of Star-rating, Boutique, Lodges, Modern or traditional, etc. You will also let me know how many days you wish to travel for.

3. Preparation of Itinerary & Quote

With all this important information, I will design you a custom itinerary and send it to you within 24 hours. The itinerary will have a detailed day by day breakdown of the trip with information on hotels, activities and tours, transport and transfers & guides. On certain days, I will also give you various activity options to choose from. The itinerary will also have a quote of the tour and the air travel. You will review the itinerary with your travel companions and provide me with feedback & any questions you may have. Of course we can make changes to the itinerary based on your input and preferences. I will then send you an updated itinerary and quote. The time required for this part of the process varies. Sometimes the first itinerary I send hits the target and no changes are required. On other occasions – especially groups of friend, everyone likes to have an input and there is more back and forth changes. But, that is fine. The objective is to come up with the itinerary you are happy with.

4. Booking process

Once you are happy with the itinerary and quote, you can move forward to the booking process. To move forward with the reservation, we require a 15% on the tour price via credit card. The remaining tour price amount is payable 60 days prior to travel via bank transfer or credit card. I will send you an invoice for the full amount. We also book the internal flights with your credit card. I will then reserve all the services, activities, guides, flights & hotels as listed in the itinerary.

5. Preparation for the trip

Once you have booked your custom tour, you can now start preparing yourself for this fantastic trip. No doubt you will have many questions before you travel such as what weather to expect; how to change money; customs & habits here; clothing; luggage limitations; restaurant recommendations; etc. For this reason, I will send you a document – “Important Information prior to travel” which should answer all these questions. If you have any more, no problem – just let me know.

6. Arrival

I will meet you on arrival at Buenos Aires airport. If you arrive to Rio or Santiago airport first, I will send one of my guides to meet you there. I will take you to the first hotel where (after check-in) I will provide you with the final detailed itinerary which will include pickup time information, vouchers and air travel tickets. I will go through the itinerary with you and answer any questions or doubts you may have. In the case you arrive to Rio or Santiago first, I will send you final detailed itinerary, vouchers and air travel tickets via email  and answer any of questions prior to your departure from home.

7. Communication during the trip

I will also provide you with my mobile telephone number so that we can be in touch throughout the trip via Facetime or Whatsapp. On the odd occasion, unplanned events can arise – such as an electrical storm causing a flight delay or,  you may be asking for a recommendation. I will be on hand throughout the trip for whatever eventuality may arise or any questions you may have.

8.  End of trip feedback

If you are passing through Buenos Aires on your way home, I will make the effort to see you before you fly back home. It is very important to me your feedback on trip. Yes, I do have excellent reviews but I like to hear what you especially enjoyed and if there is anything you would have liked to have done differently. On your return home, I will ask you to complete a review of the trip and to send me some photos of your trip. Reviews are very important in terms of generating future business and providing confidence to potential customers in booking with us.
